Understanding bot traffic and its impact on prospect identification.

Understanding bot traffic and its impact on prospect identification.

All websites are susceptible to bot traffic. There have been recent spikes in bot traffic due to the proliferation of AI.

AI, or Large Language Models (LLMs), use bots to scrape data from websites. In order to learn, AI must consume massive amounts of content and data. AI platforms, like Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and PerplexityAI, utilize massive scraper systems to extract website directories and content, gathering the data necessary to inform the answers they provide. AI systems will repeatedly go out to gather new data, updating their language models to accommodate new information and updates. So, bots are here to stay.

However, it’s essential to note that the presence of bot traffic does not impact your person-level advertising. Also, bot traffic does not affect candidate identification on the Franchise Ninja platform. At Franchise Ninja, we have built bot prevention into our script, which is designed to flush bots, so they are not counted as a successful ID. While it will not filter out 100% of bots visiting your site, it will filter a large percentage of those hits.

Your website will still be susceptible to bot traffic, which can be identified by a sudden increase in website visits. However, if you do not see a corresponding spike in identifications on the Platform, you can be confident that while there was bot traffic on your site, we did not identify those as potential In-Market or Engaged Candidates. Please note that Franchise Ninja is not responsible for an increase in bot traffic, and we do recommend reviewing referral sources to identify where bot traffic is originating.
